In former years, both Edison and Highland Park provided a special area for burning our chometz, as well as garbage trucks to dump last minute garbage. This year, these resources are not available because of the current virus situation.
This year one may fulfill the Mitzvah of תשתיתו (getting rid of Chometz) by crumbling an amount of chometz equal to about one slice of bread and flushing it down the toilet.
Please do not burn chametz in your backyard, on your grill, on the street, or around your house. It is dangerous and could lead to a fire.
Several synagogues are providing dumpsters for people to dispose of chametz. Etz Ahaim is not. If you’re a member of another synagogue, please use their dumpster. Please don’t overload the dumpster, and be thoughtful of others.
