Etz Ahaim Sisterhood / Daughters of Etz Ahaim
Daughters of Etz Ahaim is the sisterhood organization of Congregation Etz Ahaim. Daughters of Etz Ahaim supports the synagogue's community events and helps with fundraising. Most importantly, it provides a platform for the women of Etz Ahaim to come together, support each other and share ideas. Any woman who is a member of Congregation Etz Ahaim can join. Annual dues help to fund activities for DEA and the synagogue.
History
In 1936 the Daughter of Etz Ahaim was founded, largely through the efforts of Mrs. Jack Pavon, the Sisterhood’s first president. Under her leadership, it grew in size, strength, and esteem. The Daughters of Etz Ahaim in shaping the life of the central New Jersey Sephardic Jews and aided greatly in the financial stability of the Congregation by sponsoring numerous fundraising projects.
Recent Events
The Daughters of Etz Ahaim gathered together for the annual paid-up membership dinner on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Delicious food by Capri was served. The women were treated to a paint night. Enjoy the photos.
Cookbook
Several years ago the Sisterhood compiled a cookbook with treasured recipes of Etz Ahaim members. Recipes include hamin, keftes, dafina, bronya, and many more delectable dishes. See bottom of this page on how to purchase a cookbook.
Yizkor Booklet
The Sisterhood is in the process of producing a new Yizkor memorial booklet this coming year. The Yizkor booklet contains the prayers said on the holidays in memory of one's parents. Information about sponsorship coming soon.
Membership Dues
Dues are $36/year. Any female member of Congregation Etz Ahaim may join. We are planning a paid up Sisterhood membership event. Please send your $36 check payable to Daughters of Etz Ahaim, 230 Denison Street.
