Responding to helpful input from the VAAD HaRabbonim of Raritan Valley and the ROC of NJ, the Borough of Highland Park has arranged to accommodate the needs of hundreds of Jewish homeowners who have requested that the town provide Sabbath-observant water meters, as part of this year's water meter replacement program.
The Borough has placed an order for these new water meters and they hope to receive a sufficient quality within the next few months. These special-order 'Sabbath-observant' meters will come at an added cost of $10/meter, which will be charged to each consumer who requests them in their next quarterly water bill.
In the interim, the Borough advises residents seeking the 'Sabbath-observant' water meters to refrain from scheduling a visit to their home by our vendor, National Metering Services, until the Borough announces that the 'Sabbath-observant' water meters have been received. If a representative from National Metering Services comes to your door seeking to set an appointment, please tell them that you are waiting until the Borough informs you that the Sabbath-observant' water meters have been received.
